Wrist warmers crochet pattern:

Chain 35.

Row 1: Ch 2. Starting in the 3rd ch from hook, HDC in next 35 ch. Turn. (35)

Rows 2-3: Ch 2, HDC blo in each st across. Turn. (35) To reduce edge stretchiness, crochet the last stitch under both loops.

Row 4: Ch 2, HDC blo in next 19 sts, SC blo in next st, sl st blo in next st. Turn. (21)

Row 5: Ch 1, sl st blo in next 2 sts, SC blo in next st, HDC blo in next 18 sts. Turn. (21)

Row 6: Ch 2, HDC blo in next 16 sts, SC blo in next st, sl st blo in next st. Turn. (18)

Row 7: Ch 1, sl st blo in next 2 sts, SC blo in next st, HDC blo in next 15 sts. Turn. (18)

To create a smooth transition between short rows and avoid holes, there are two ways to do this:

    1. Method 1:
      Insert the hook under the horizontal bar (ch 1 of the previous row), yarn over, then insert the hook into the back loop of the next stitch. Yarn over, pull through, yarn over again, and pull through all four loops on the hook to complete an HDC.
    2. Method 2:
      Bring the working yarn to the right side. Insert the hook through both loops of the bottom stitch on the back side, yarn over, then insert the hook into the back loop of the next stitch. Yarn over, pull through, yarn over again, and pull through all loops on the hook to complete an HDC.

Row 11 (thumb): ch 2, HDC in next 26 sts, ch 7. Turn.

Row 12: Work in the 3rd chain from hook HDC in next 5 chans, HDC blo in next 26 sts. Turn. (31)

Rows 13-17: Ch 2, HDC blo in each st. Turn (31)

Row 18: Fold the thumb section in half so that the working yarn is coming from the back layer * Insert the hook into the first loop of the foundation chain, then through the back loop of the stitch on the opposite side. Finish with a slip stitch. Repeat from * 5 times. HDC blo in next 26 sts. Turn. 

Row 19: ch 2, HDC blo in next 26 sts, then continue working along the finger section – HDC blo in next 9 sts. Turn. (35)

Row 20: Repeat Row 8.

Row 21: Repeat Row 9.

Row 22: Repeat Row 6.

For a smooth transition, use the method described previously.

Row 23: Repeat Row 7.

Row 24: Repeat Row 4.

Row 25: Repeat Row 5.

Rows 26-28: ch 2, HDC blo in each st across. Turn. (35)

Making the seam: Turn the mitten wrong side out so that the working yarn is coming from the back layer. *Insert the hook into the first loop of the foundation chain, then through the back loop of the stitch on the opposite side. Finish with a slip stitch. Repeat from * across. Weave in all ends.

Repeat the pattern for the second mitten.
