Crochet Easter Cross Pattern

With Easter right around the corner, I thought about making a crochet cross that can be used as a bookmark or as a decor element of a larger crochet composition. You can make the cross either single or multi-colour, small or big, with or without embellishments. Think of it as a base for creating something unique and deeply personal.

The pattern is fairly simple, you start by working it from the top, forming an intersection of the cross, and then moving down to form the vertical line. You just have to know the double crochet stitch to make this cross.

Make a magic ring:

ch3, 2 DC in ring, [ch3, 3 DC in ring] – repeat 3 times, ch3, join with sl st in top of beginning ch3.

*Sl st in next DC, sl st in next DC, sl st in ch-3 space. Ch 3, 2 DC in the same ch-3 space, ch3, 2 DC in the same ch-3 space, ch3, sl st in next DC. Repeat from * 3 more times. At the very end instead of Ch3 and sl st make one more DC. Turn.

Crochet bottom of the cross:

*Ch1, sl st in next DC, sl st in next DC, sl st in ch-3 space. Ch 3, 2 DC in the same ch-3 space, ch3, 3 DC. Repeat from * twice.

Cut the yarn and weave in the ends. Enjoy your cute masterpiece. If you add a tassel at the end this can become a perfect bookmark for your Holy Bible.

I’m sure you figured this out by now, but I’ll answer in case anyone else has the same problem. I noticed the same issue the first time I made one. Where the instructions say all’s “repeat from * four times,” it should say to repeat three times.

I am not sure why it is unclear for someone but I added repeat 3 more time instead of 4. Please let me know if it is clear now!
