Crochet body of the gloves:

Make two.

Chain 38.

Row 1: Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, SC in next 24 chs. Sl st in next 13 chs. (37)

Row 2: Ch 1, sl st blo in next 13 sts, SC blo in next 24 sts. (37) Optionally, work the last stitch of each even row through both loops to create a less stretchy edge.

Row 3: Ch 1, SC blo in next 24 sts, sl st blo in next 13 sts.

Row 4: Ch 1, sl st blo in next 13 sts, SC blo in next 24 sts.

Repeat Rows 3–4 until you have worked 27 or 29 rows, or any other odd number of rows. For a snug fit, I worked 27 rows.

Shaping thumb section:

Place your hand on top of the fingerless glove and find the correct position for the thumb. Mark the stitch that corresponds to where the thumb begins with a stitch marker. In my case, I marked stitch 26.

Rows 1, 3, 5, 7: Ch 1, sl st blo in next 13 sts, SC blo in next 13 sts. Turn. (26)

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8: Ch 1, SC blo in next 13 sts, sl st blo in next 13 sts. Turn. (26)

Assembly of the glove:

Fold the mitten so the foundation chain edge is closest to you. Ch 1 and pull the working loop to the beginning of the foundation chain. Insert the hook into the first loop of the foundation chain and into the back loop of the corresponding stitch on the opposite edge, yarn over, and pull through. Repeat this seaming method across the first 26 stitches. Then fold the glove to form the thumb section and continue joining in the same way for the next 11 sts.

Weave in all ends. Turn the glove right side out.
