Crochet Puff Stitch Flower Pattern

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 5 mm

<> Yarn weight: 4 medium worsted

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

sl st – slip stitch

dc – double crochet

How to crochet a puff stitch flower:

With pink color yarn, ch 5. Join with sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch 4, into the circle: [dc, ch1] – repeat 11 times, sl st into the 3d chain.

Each petal will be worked over 2 ch-1 spaces. In total 6 petals.

Round 2: ***ch4, *yarn over, insert the hook into the first ch-1 space, yarn over, draw up a loop to the same height of the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops only – repeat from * 5 times (6 loops on hook), yarn over, insert the hook into the next ch-1 space, *yarn over draw up a loop to the same height of the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops only  – repeat from * 5 times (11 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook, ch5, sl st into the same ch-1 space. Repeat pattern from *** until you form in total 6 petals, sl st into the first ch of the second rounds and tie off.

Flower center:

Take the yellow color yarn. Leave 10 cm tail, make a ch1 and try to hold the back ridge of the chain. Sc into the back ridge. Check video for more instructions. Ch4, *yarn over, insert the hook through the front part of the sc that we just formed and draw up a loop to the same height of the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops only – repeat from * 10 times (11 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook, ch 2. Cut the yarn leaving same 10 cm tail.

Now tie flower center to the flower itself using those tails. Do not cut tails if you are going to attach the flower to the cardigan or sweater.
