Crochet Newborn Baby Socks Pattern

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 3.5mm (US E-4 /UK 9)

<> Wine (DK) – 100% acrylic: 50 grams -124 m per skein.  Red and white color.

Crochet baby slipper socks size:

Newborn/12 month.

Gauge 18 sts – 4 inches (10 cm)

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc –double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch

sc2tog – single crochet 2 together

dc3tog – double crochet 3 together

fpdc – front post double crochet

bpdc – back post double crochet

Crochet baby slipper socks pattern:

Crochet toe and foot of baby socks:

Round 1: With red color, make an adjustable ring and make a slip knot. Ch3, 11 dc into the ring, join with sl st in 3d ch – 12 sts.

Round 2: ch 3, dc in the same ch, 2 dc ineach st from previous round, join with sl st – 24 sts. Change to white color in last st. Cut red color yarn.

At this point the diameter of the circle is 4.5 cm.

Round 3: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join with sl st – 24 sts.

Round 4-7: Repeat Round 3. Cut the white yarn.

Crochet heel of baby socks:

Count 6 sts back from the place where you have finished last round and attach red yarn with a slip knot.

Row 1: dc in next 12 sts, turn.

Row 2: ch1, sc in next 12 sts, turn.

Row 3-5: repeat Row 2.

If you do not want to cut the yarn, make the last loop wide to make it possible to pull the yarn ball through it.

Row 6: now count 4 sts and make a sc into the 5^th one. Do not pull the tail tight, let it lay along the edge. Sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, turn.

Row 7: (there is no ch 1 here), skip next stitch, sc in next 4 sts after, sc2tog, turn.

Row 8: (there is no ch 1 here), skip next stitch, sc in next 4 sts after, sc2tog, turn.

Row 9: (there is no ch 1 here), skip next stitch, sc in next 4 sts after, sc2tog. Cut the red yarn.

Crochet upper part of baby socks:

Round 1: Join yarn into the 1^st sc of the previous row and make ch2, dc in next 3 sts, pick up 6 dc in each side of the heel, in the corner dc3tog, dc in next 10 sts of the top part, dc3tog, pick up 6 dc in each of the other size of the heel, join with sl st – 28 sts.

Round 2: ch3, dc in each st around, join with sl st. Cut the white yarn.

Crochet ribbing of baby socks:

Round 1: Join red color yarn, ch3, dc in each st around, join with sl st – 28 sts.

Round 2: Ch 2, *fpdc in the next st, bpdc in the next st – repeat from * around. Join with sl st.

Round 3-4: repeat Round 1. Cut the yarn.

Weave in all ends!

Round 4: With color A, ch 2, hdc into the base of the ch2, [2 hdc in between of 2 hdc of previous round], join. (24 sts)

Repeat Rounds 3 and 4 for six more times and then repeat Round 3 one more time. Fasten off.

Start working heel back and forth in rows

Row 1: To make ankle opening, leave 4 sts in the center and join color A. Ch2 (count as 1 hdc), hdc in the next 19 sts, ch2, turn.

Row 2-11: Ch2 (count as 1 hdc), hdc in the next 19 sts, ch2, turn.

To close the end of slipper, turn it inside out and sl st down. Cut the yarn. Now turn slipper the right side out. Join color B, ch 1, and sc around entire slipper and join with sl st at the end. If you think that ankle opening is to wide, make 2 decreases in the corners by crocheting 2 stitches together (sc2tog).

Weave in all ends and make the second one.
