Crochet solid heart square size:

Solid heart granny square crochet pattern:

Color A – Start with magic ring:

Round 1: Ch 3 (count as DC), 11 DC. Sl st to top of starting chain 3. (12 sts)

Round 2: ch 1, skip next st, 7 TR in next st, 2 EDC in next st, 2 DC in next 3 sts. Pull the working loop to make it slightly longer. Insert the hook into the previous loop and make a slip stitch. Then, crochet 2 DC into the same stitch as the last 2 DC. 2 DC in next 2 sts, 2 EDC in next st, 7 TR in next st, skip next st, join to previous sl st.

Cut the yarn. Use a yarn needle to secure (pull the tail from front to back through the 3d chain of the initial ch3 in Round 1) and weave in the yarn ends on the back side.

Squaring:

Round 3: Hold the heart upside down and join color B into the sl st at the bottom of the heart through the front loop only. Ch 1, SC into the same st as the join. 

Continue crocheting through both loops. Round 2: sl st, ch3, dc, [2dc, ch2, 2dc] – in ch-2 space of previous round, *3 dc, [2dc, ch2, 2dc] – in ch-2 space of previous round – repeat from * three times, dc. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
