Crochet Snug Mosaic Socks Pattern
Pattern Sections

Crochet materials and tools:
Crochet hook 3.5 mm.
Bernat Premium (4): 100% acrylic
Substitutes: Yarnspirations/Premier Basix, Premier/Super Saver, Red Heart (4) – all 100% acrylic, medium/worsted weight
Color A: Gold, Color B: White. Quantity: 130 grams (Color A approx. 60%, Color B approx. 40%).
Yarn needle.
Crochet mosaic socks size:
Size: US 7 – 7.5 – 8 (24 – 25 cm). The size can be easily adjusted by crocheting the sole section slightly longer or shorter, and by increasing the hook size by 0.5–1 mm.
Length to the heel:
The heel usually measures 25–30% of the total sock length, which is approximately 7–7.5 cm for a US size 7–8.
To calculate the length of the foot before starting the heel:
Total length – heel length = length to heel
25 – 7 (7.5) = 18 (17.5) cm (7 in)
Work the sock until this length before beginning the heel.
Sock width: 10 cm (4”).
This sock is not stretchy. If you plan to use a different yarn weight or want to make the sock wider, the total number of stitches for the mosaic section must be a multiple of 6.
Gauge: 15-16 sts and 15 rows = 10 by 10 cm (4” by 4”)

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches (US):
ch – chain
SC – single double crochet
SC blo – single crochet back loop only
DC – double crochet
DC3tog – Double crochet three together
Drop-Down DC – Drop-down double crochet: Insert the hook into the front loop of the stitch below the previous row and complete a double crochet as usual.
sl st – slip stitch
Yo – yarn over
st(s) – stitch(es)
FPDC – front post double crochet
FPSC – front post single crochet
BPDC – back post double crochet
FSC – Foundation Single Crochet:
Step 1: Ch 2.
Step 2 : Insert the hook into the 2nd chain from the hook. Yo and pull up a loop. Yo and pull through 1 loop on the hook — this creates the first chain of the FSC. Yo and pull through both loops on the hook — this completes the first foundation single crochet stitch.
Step 3: For the second stitch and all following stitches: Yo, insert the hook into the chain created by the previous stitch (created in Step 2). Yo and pull up a loop. Yo and pull through 1 loop (forms the next chain). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (completes the foundation single crochet).
Repeat Step 3 for each stitch until you reach the desired number of stitches.
