Crochet Ribbing Pattern (Single Crochet Stitch)

crochet ribbing with knitting style look

In this post I would like to share an interesting crochet ribbing that has a “special” single crochet stitch. Do not worry if you find it hard at the beginning, a little bit of practice and you won’t regret the time spent learning it. Extra tio for this ribbing – crochet loosely and do not make stitches tight.

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 5 mm (H-8)

<> Gazzal XL Baby Wool (Aran) – 40% acrylic, 20% Cashmere Pa, 40% Lana Merino: 50 grams -100 m per skein.

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

sl st – slip stitch

scBL – single crochet, back loop only

scl – single crochet together with a loop of the previous stitch,

sclBL – single crochet together with a loop of the previous stitch, back loop only

st(s) – stitch(es)

Crochet ribbing pattern:

This crochet ribbing is worked flat. Chain any number. Chain 13.

Row 1: Work into the back ridge: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 11 scl. (12 sts). Turn.

Row 2: ch 1, 1 scBL, 11 sclBL. Turn. (12 sts). !!! If you are using this ribbing for a hat and want the border of your hat to be less stretchy, then crochet always the very last stitch through both loops !!!

Repeat Row 2 as many times as needed.
