Baby: 36 – 41 cm. The size can be easily adjusted by ribbing length.

Hat’s height – 14 cm

Gauge: 17 sts – 4 inches (10 cm)

sl st – slip stitch

BLO – back loop only

Newborn baby crochet beanie pattern

Crochet brim of a newborn baby hat:

Row 1: Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, turn (6).

Row 2: ch1, sc in BLO in each st across, turn (6).

Repeat Row 2 until ribbing reaches 34-35 cm. Join the last and the first rows in a way so that the seam is on the right side. (There should be no seems on the wrong side for newborn clothes and accessories)

Crochet body of a newborn baby hat:

Round 1: Ch3 (count as first dc), dc evenly around the brim. One stitch per one row of the brim, join with sl st to top of starting chain.

Round 2: ch3, [fpdc, bpdc] – repeat till the end, fpdc, join with sl st to top of starting chain.

Repeat Round 2 until beanie reaches 13 cm.

Crochet crown of a newborn baby hat:

Rounds 1: sl st underneath first fpdc, ch 3, skip 1 st (bpdc of the previous round), [fpdc, skip next stitch] – repeat till the end, fpdc, join with sl st to top of starting chain.

Round 2: sl st underneath both first and second fpdc, ch3, yarn over, [fpdc underneath next two fpdc] – repeat till the end, join with sl st to top of starting chain.

Round 3: ch 1, sc in each stitch around.

Cut the yarn leaving 15 cm tail. Sew that tiny hole on the crown. Attach yarn pom pom. Weave in ends.
