Crochet Petunia Flower Coaster Pattern (Spiral Shape)

Crochet materials and tools:
<> Crochet hook 4 mm
<> Caron, Simply Soft (4) –100% acrylic, 288 meter per 170 grams skein or any other type of yarn.
Crochet petunia flower coaster size:
Diameter: 13 cm (5.2”)
Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
ch – chain
SC – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
yo – yarn over
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
TR – treble crochet
Crochet spiral coaster pattern:
Row 1: Make a magic ring. Ch 9. Working in back ridge of chain: into the 2nd chain from the hook sl st in next 8 chains, sl st into the center of magic ring, ch1. Turn.
Row 2: into the 3rd stitch from the hook, work underneath front loops only, SC, HDC in next stitch, 2HDC in next stitch, DC in next stitch, 2DC in next stitch, TR in next stitch, 2TR in next stitch, TR into the last stitch. Turn. (no ch1 stitch).
Row 3: Work under two loops. Start from the very first stitch. sl st in next 11 stitches, sl st into the center of magic ring, ch1. Turn.
Row 4: into the 3rd stitch from the hook, work underneath front loops only, SC, HDC in next stitch, 2HDC in next stitch, DC in next stitch, 2DC in next stitch, TR in next stitch, 2TR in next stitch, TR in the next stitch. Turn. (no ch1 stitch).
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for 10 more times
At the ends, turn coaster and sl st in next 3 stitches. Cut the yarn leaving 20-25 cm tail. Using yarn needle joint first and last row as shown in the video tutorial.

your video says to crochet into the back loop….your instructions say front. please can you explain what you mean? thanks!
Please follow the video. It depends how you look at your stitch. When I turn my work the back loop of a slip stitch, now looks as front. That is why I am saying front loop.
ok, yes the video is very helpful. these are such little cuties. would you be able to make them larger? would love a an 8-10 inch size?
Not sure about 8 in but if you use T-shirt yarn coaster will look gorgeous and much much bigger. I would also play with the number of chains at the beginning.
