Crochet Peony Flower Pattern

Although the season for peony flowers hasn’t started in British Columbia just yet, I wanted to bring the beauty of this flower to life and decorate a baby hat I made a bit earlier. My crochet peony flower turned out to be fairly large and chunky the first time, so I changed the yarn to medium-worsted weight and took a smaller hook to get what I wanted. Crochet a couple of peony flowers to decorate your summer wrath, a cushion, or a hat, and share your projects with me.

Peony flower crochet pattern:

Ch 45. By adjusting the chain, it’s easy to change the size of the flower.

Row 1: Ch3, DC in 4th chain from hook, 1 DC in each chain across. Turn. (45 DC)

Row 2: *Ch 3, yo, insert the hook into the next stitch and draw up a long loop, yo and pull through only 2 loops, yo, insert the hook into the same stitch, draw up a long loop, yo and pull through only 2 loops, yo, insert the hook into the same stitch, draw up a long loop, yo and pull through only 2 loops, yo, insert the hook into the same stitch, draw up a long loop, yo and pull through only 2 loops. Now you have 5 loops on your hook, yo and pull through all 5 loops. Ch3, sl st into the same stitch. Repeat from * till the end.

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail.

Start rolling everything up starting from the center. Use yarn needle to stitch flower together on the backside.
