Start with a magic ring:

Round 1: ch 3, 16 DC into the magic ring. Close round with sl st in 1^st DC. (16 sts)

Round 2: ch 3, 2 DC in the same stitch as joining, 2 DC in each stitch around. Close round with sl st in 1^st DC. (32 sts)
