Crochet Christmas tree pattern (from granny square):
First, follow the Crochet Santa Belt Granny Square pattern. This pattern includes a step-by-step description and a video tutorial demonstrating how to crochet the granny square.
Next, fold the granny square into shape using a few simple folds, then stitch it into a tree form using either the tail from the granny square or a new length of yarn.
For the trunk (use brown yarn): Attach the yarn to the ch-2 space from Round 2 of the granny square. Work as follows: [ch 3, 3 DC, ch 3], and join into the same space. Weave in the ends.
To finish, add a small star on top of your Christmas tree:
Row 1: Make a magic ring: 12 SC. Sl st to 1st SC (12 sts)
Row 2: [Ch 5, sl st into the 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, skip next st, sl st in next st] – repeat 6 times for the 6 star points. Join to the 1st ch of the beg ch-5 using a yarn needle and a seamless join.
Approximate tree size: 14 cm x 10 cm (5.5 in x 4 in)
