Crochet Hair Bow Pattern for Beginners

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 3.5 mm

<> Caron Simply Soft Yarn (4) – 100% acrylic: 170 grams -288 m per skein.

Crochet hair bow size:

About 9 cm. The size depends on yarn you are going to use.

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sl st – slip stitch

sl st blo – slip stitch back loop only

st(s) – stitch(es)

HDC – half double crochet

HDC blo – half double crochet back loop only

Crochet bow pattern:

Chain 55. Work in back ridge of chain.

Row 1: Into the 2^nd chain from hook HDC, 5 HDC in next 5 ch, sl st in next 6 ch, 12 HDC in next 12 ch, sl st in next 6 ch, 12 HDC in next 12 ch, sl st in next 6 ch, 6 HDC in next 6 ch, ch1, turn.

Row 2: 6 HDC blo in next 6 sts, sl st blo in next 6 sts, 12 HDC blo in next 12 sts, sl st blo in next 6 sts, 12 HDC blo in next 12 sts, sl st blo in next 6 sts, 6 HDC blo in next 6 sts, ch1, turn. Crochet the very last stitch underneath both loops.

Repeat Row 2 – two or three more times. The widest part must be about 4-5 cm.  Cut the yarn and weave in ends.

Fold the right and left sides of bow as shown in the video tutorial. Using yarn needle sew all three layers. Wrap tails around the central part.

For the central part (optionally): Leave 10 cm tail. Ch 10. Starting from the 2^nd chain from hook, sl st in next 9 ch. Cut the yarn leaving 10 cm tail. Wrap the piece around the central part of bow and fix it using two tails we left. Weave in ends.
