Pillow granny square crochet pattern:
Color A:
Round 1 (RS): Form a magic ring, ch 3 (count as DC), 2 DC into the ring, ch 2, [3 DC, ch 2] – repeat twice, 3DC. Tighten the ring. To join, create a half double crochet stitch into the 3rd chain of the starting chain-3. When changing color for the next round, with three loops remaining on your hook, introduce the new color and pull it through the last three loops. With the new color (color B), make a single crochet into the formed space (corner). Turn your work clockwise.
Color B:
Round 2 (WS): Ch 3, SC into the same space. [Ch 3, SC in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, SC into the same ch-2 sp] – repeat 3 times. Ch 3, join with sl st into the 1st SC. Turn your work clockwise.
Color A:
Change the color by pulling the new yarn through the working loop, otherwise, continue crocheting with the old one.
Round 3 (RS): Make a SC into the ch-3 corner space. To do this, insert your hook slightly backward into the space. Ch 2 (count SC + ch 2 as DC), 2 DC into the same ch-3 sp, *3DC in next ch-3 sp, [3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC] in next ch-3 sp – repeat from * 3 times. 3DC in next ch-3 sp, 3DC in the 1st corner space. To join, create a half double crochet stitch into the last chain of the starting DC. With the new color (color B), make a single crochet into the formed space (corner). Turn your work clockwise.
Color B:
Round 4 (WS): Ch 3, SC into the same space. *[Ch 3, SC in the space between sets of 3 DC groups] – twice, ch 3, SC in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, SC into the same ch-2 sp – repeat 3 times. [Ch 3, SC in the space between sets of 3 DC groups] – twice. Ch 3, join with sl st into the 1st SC. Turn your work clockwise.
Color A:
Change the color by pulling the new yarn through the working loop.
Round 5 (RS): Make a SC into the ch-3 corner space. To do this, insert your hook slightly backward into the space. Ch 2 (count SC + ch 2 as DC), 2 DC into the same ch-3 sp, *3DC in next ch-3 sp – repeat 3 times, [3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC] in next ch-3 sp – repeat from * 3 times. 3DC in next ch-3 sp – repeat 3 times, 3DC in the 1st corner space. To join, create a half double crochet stitch into the last chain of the starting DC. With the new color (color B), make a single crochet into the formed space (corner). Turn your work clockwise.
Continue crocheting the square, changing colors as desired, until it reaches the size you want. Then weave in all the yarn ends.
