Continue making increases by inserting the hook into the third chain from the hook on every even row and into the fourth chain from the hook on every odd row. Crochet your shawl until you achieve the desired width, and conclude at the end of an odd-numbered row. Leave one stitch and the chain-2 from the previous row. To start the decrease, yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch (back loop), and draw up a loop, creating 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over again, insert the hook into the second chain of the chain-2 from the previous row, resulting in 5 loops on the hook. Finally, yarn over and pull through all five loops on the hook. Turn.
Next Row: ch 2, HDC blo in 4th ch from hook, HDC blo in each stitch across, HDC in 2nd ch of ch-2 from the previous Row. Turn.
Next Row: ch 2, HDC blo in 4th ch from hook. Continue making HDC blo in each stitch until the last two stitches and the chain-2 from the previous row. Insert the hook into the next stitch (back loop) and draw up a loop, creating 3 loops on the hook. Then, insert the hook into the last stitch and draw up a loop. This results in 5 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on the hook, leaving the chain-2 from the previous row unworked.
Continue repeating the last two rows to decrease the shawl until you have only the last 2 stitches remaining. Pay attention that, starting from where the decreases began, insert the hook into the 4th chain from the hook at the beginning of both even and odd rows.
Cut the yarn and weave in all ends. Wash your shawl and dry it flat.
