Crochet Tiny Toes Preemie Baby Socks Pattern

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet Hook 3 mm;

<> Use any DK weight yarn in two colors: pink and white.

Crochet preemie baby socks size:

Size: preemie 6-7 cm foot length

Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches (US):

ch – chain

SC – single crochet

DC – double crochet

DC2tog – double crochet two together

sl st – slip stitch

FPDC – front post double crochet

FPSC – front post single crochet

BPDC – back post double crochet

SC2tog – single crochet two stitches together

Preemie baby socks crochet pattern:

Crochet toe and foot of preemie socks:

Round 1: With pink yarn, make an adjustable ring and secure it with a slip knot. Ch3 (count as DC), 11 DC into the ring, Join with a slip stitch to the top of the starting ch-3 – 12 sts.

Round 2: ch 3, DC into the same stitch as the join, 2 DC in each st around, join with sl st – 24 sts. Cut the pink color. The circle now measures approximately 4 cm in diameter.

Change to white color.

Round 3: Ch 3, DC in each st around, join with sl st – 24 sts.

Rounds 4-5: Repeat Round 3. Cut the white yarn.

Crochet the heel of preemie socks:

Count 7 stitches back from the last slip stitch (including the slip stitch in the count), and attach the pink yarn with a slip knot.

Row 1: SC into the same stitch, SC in next 11 sts, turn counterclockwise. (12)

Row 2: ch1, SC in next 12 sts, turn.

Rows 3-5: repeat Row 2, turn.

If you don’t want to cut the yarn, pull up the last loop to make it wide enough to pass the sock through it. Refer to the video tutorial if needed.

Row 6: now count 4 sts and make a sc into the 5th one. Do not pull the yarn tight; let it lie along the edge like a float. SC in next 3 sts, SC2tog, turn.

Row 7: (there is no ch 1 here), skip next stitch, SC in next 4 sts, SC2tog, turn.

Row 8: (there is no ch 1 here), skip next stitch, SC in next 4 sts, SC2tog, turn.

Row 9: (there is no ch 1 here), skip next stitch, SC in next 4 sts, SC2tog. Cut the red yarn.

Crochet the upper part of preemie socks:

Change to white color.

Round 1: Join yarn into the 1st SC of the back part of the heel and make ch3, DC in next 3 sts, pick up and work 6 DC along the left side of the heel, DC2tog to make smooth transition between heel and instep part, DC in next 10 sts of the top part, DC2tog, pick up 6 DC along the right side of the heel, join with sl st – 28 sts.

Crochet ribbing of preemie socks:

Round 1: FPSC around ch-3 of previous round, ch 2, BPDC, [FPDC, BPDC] – repeat around. Join with sl st to first FPSC. – 28 sts.

Rounds 2-5: repeat Round 1. Cut the yarn.

Weave in all ends, then repeat the process for the second sock.
