Crochet Smartphone Case Pattern

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 4 mm for the bag and 2.5 mm for the bag handle.

<> Craft Twine, Crafte 2 mm. You may use any cotton yarn you have.

 <> Magnetic snap or 30 mm button, stitch markers,2 lobster clasps (optionally)

 

Crochet smartphone case size:

Gauge: 16 stitches = 4 inches (double crochet swatch)

Width: 13 cm (3.5”)

Height: 20 cm (6”)

Length of bag handle: 133 cm (40”)

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches (US):

ch – chain

DC –double crochet

SC – single crochet

st(s) – stitch(es)

BDC: backward double crochet – Insert the hook into the stitch to the right of the current stitch, yarn over, draw up a loop, yarn over again and pull through the first two loops on the hook, then yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops.

sl st – slip stitch

pm – place marker

Smartphone case crochet pattern:

Ch 18. Or any even number according to the breadth of your phone.

Round 1: ch 1, starting in the second chain from hook, 1 SC in each chain, 4 SC in the last chain, continue working on the opposite side of the chain, make SC in all the chains on the opposite side and once you reach the last stitch, make 3 more SC and sl st to first SC. (40 SC)

Round 2: ch 1, SC into the same st and in each st around. Join to 1st SC. (40 SC)

Rounds 3-4: Repeat Round 2. (40 SC)

Round 5: ch 3 (count as DC), BDC, [skip next unworked stitch, DC, BDC] – repeat around.  Sl st to top of starting ch-3.

Round 6: ch 1, SC into the same st as join and in each st around. Join to 1st SC. (40 SC)

Repeat Rounds 5 and 6 seven more times or until bag reaches 18 cm (5.5 in)

Next 2 Rounds : ch 1, SC into the same st and in each st around. Join to 1st SC. (40 SC)

Cut the yarn and weave in ends. Sew the magnetic snap.

For the bag handle use 2.5 mm crochet hook.

Leave at least a 25-30 cm tail if you are going to sew the bag’s handle.

• • Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch. Turn the work clockwise, insert the hook underneath the side stitch and make a sc. Right after the stitch, there will be one more bar; insert your hook under it and make a sc.
  • *Turn the work clockwise again. Work a sc into the second side stitch from the hook. Right after the stitch, there will be two more bars; insert your hook under both bars and make a sc.
  • Repeat from * until the handle reaches the desired length. 125-133 cm. Sew on the handle or add the clasps.
