Crochet Easter Bunny Ears Baby Hat Pattern

Crochet Hook 4 mm 

Bernat Premium, Yarnspiration – 100% acrylic. 198 grams – 329 meters per skein. Quantity – 60-65 grams

Head circumference: 36-40 cm

Gauge: 14 stitches = 4 inches

Crochet Bunny Ears (make two):

Round 1: Make 6 SC into a magic ring. Join with sl st to the 1st SC. (6)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 HDC into the same stitch as join, 2 HDC in each st around. Join to the 1st HDC. (12)

Round 3: Ch 1, HDC in each st around. Join. (12)

Round 4: Ch 1, [HDC in next st, 2 HDC in next st] – repeat 6 times. Join. (18)

Rounds 5-6: Ch 1, HDC in each st around. Join. (18)

Round 7: Ch 1, [HDC in next two sts, 2 HDC in next st] – repeat 6 times. Join. (24)

Rounds 8-9: Ch 1, HDC in each st around. Join. (24)

Repeat the pattern for the second ear and do not cut the yarn.

Place both ears on the table with the seams (or beginning of the rounds) facing each other.

Ch 2, join the first ear: HDC in next 30 sts, HDC in next 2 chains (if a small hole appears, use the tail you left earlier to sew it closed). Work along the second ear: HDC in next 30 sts, HDC in next 2 chains. Join with a sl st to the 1st HDC. (64)

Next Round: ch 1, HDC in each st around. (64)

Repeat the last round until the hat measures 12–13 cm from the ears.

Crochet Ribbing:

Ch 5, *SC into the 2nd ch from the hook, SC in the next 2 ch. Insert the hook into the last ch, yarn over and draw up a loop. Insert the hook into the next stitch along the hat’s edge, yarn over and pull through both the stitch and the 2 loops on the hook. Sl st into the next stitch along the hat’s edge, turn. No ch 1 is needed here – start working into the 2nd stitch from the hook. SC blo in the next 3 sts, SC in the last st. Turn. Ch 1. Repeat all steps from *.

Crochet Ties:

Ties are optional for a newborn hat. Make two separate chains measuring 30-33 cm and sew them 2.5 cm (1 in) back from the central points of the hat. If you’re looking for a nicer-looking cord to substitute the simple chain, please check the video tutorial.

The ties for the ears are slightly longer, measuring about 38–39 cm. Weave in all ends.
