Crochet Cup Cozy with Heart Pattern

Crochet tools and materials:

<> Crochet hook 3.5 mm 

<> Medium weight yarn: grey and write color.

<> Yarn needle, hot glue gun, optionally fibrefill for stuffing.

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches (US):

ch – chain

SC – single crochet

SC blo – single crochet back loop only

st(s) – stitch(es)

SC2tog – Insert the hook into the next stitch through the front loop only, yarn over and pull up a loop. Insert the hook into the following stitch (front loop only), yarn over and pull up another loop. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on the hook.

Cup cozy with heart crochet pattern:

Leave a 30-35 cm tail. Ch 16.

Row 1: SC into the 2nd ch from hook and in each chain across. (15)

Row 2: Ch 1, SC blo in each st across. (15)

Repeat the last row until the piece reaches the desired length. For my cup, it measures 25-25.5 cm (10 in). 

Hanging loops: Ch 15, sl st to the opposite side to join. Cut the yarn. Go to the other end of the cozy, use the tail left at the beginning, ch 15, and sl st to join on the opposite side. Cut the yarn and weave in ends.

Mittens (make 2):

Thumb: with white color,

Round 1: Start with a magic ring and work 6 SC into the ring. Do not join. Continue crocheting in a spiral.

Rounds 2-3: SC in each st around. (6) Cut the yarn and set the thumb aside for now.

With white color, ch 6. 

Round 1: Start with a magic ring and work 6 SC into the ring. Do not join. Continue crocheting in a spiral. (6)

Round 2: [SC in next st, 2 SC in next st] – 3 times (9)

Rounds 3-5: SC in each st around. (9)

Round 6: Place the thumb and work 1 SC in each of the next 3 stitches, crocheting through both the thumb stitches and the mitten stitches where they meet. SC in the next 6 sts. (9)

Round 7: Work 1 SC in each of the next 3 stitches, crocheting through both the thumb stitches and the mitten stitches where they meet (the thumb stitches closest to you). SC in the next 6 sts. (9)

Round 8: SC in each st around. (9)

Change the color to the white.

Rounds 9-13: SC in each st around. (9)

Round 14: [SC in next 2 sts, 2SC in next st] – 3 times. (12)

Rounds 15-20: SC in each st around. (12) 

The mittens can be lightly stuffed for a fuller look. To close the opening, fold the piece in half and work slip stitches evenly along the edge.
