Crochet materials and tools:

Crochet hook 4.5 mm. 

Bernat, Satin (4, medium) – 100% acrylic.  152 m per100 grams  ball.

Crochet bandana size:

Head circumference: 56 cm (22 -22.5 in)

Length from bottom of one ear to the bottom of another ear: 46 cm (16.5 in)

The total length of the headband is 46 cm. Dividing the length into three parts: 16cm – 14cm – 16cm

Gauge: 17 sts – 10 cm (4 in)

ch – chain

SC – single crochet

SC blo– single crochet back loop only

HDC – half double crochet

SC3tog blo – Insert the hook into the next stitch, draw up a loop. Insert the hook into the second stitch, draw up a loop. Insert the hook into the third stitch, draw up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.

First part:

Chain 3 (or any odd number), then add 1 extra chain.

Row 1: Working into the back ridge of the chain, SC in 2nd ridge from hook, SC in each ridge across. Turn. (3)

Row 2: Do not chain 1. SC in the first stitch, SC blo in the next stitch, SC in the last stitch. Turn. (3)

Note: There will be no ch-1 at the beginning of any row.

Work the first and last stitch of each row under both loops, while all other stitches are worked through the back loop only.

Row 3: SC in the first stitch, 3 SC blo in the next stitch, SC in the last stitch. Turn. (5)

Row 1: SC in the first stitch, SC blo in next 29 sts, SC in the last stitch. Turn. (31)

Repeat Row 1 an even number of times until the central part measures 14 cm.

Third part:

Row 1: SC in the first stitch, SC blo in next 13 sts, SC3tog blo, SC blo in next 13 sts, SC in the last stitch. Turn. (29)

Row 2:  SC in the first stitch, SC blo in next 27 sts, SC in the last stitch. Turn. (29)

Crochet border and ties:

Ch 1, work 1 SC evenly around the entire bandana, making 1 SC in each row. When you reach the beginning (or end) of the bandana, SC in the first stitch of the 3-stitch edge. Then, ch 51 (27 cm) for the first tie and HDC into the back ridge of each ch. Skip the second stitch of the 3-stitch edge, and SC into the third stitch. Continue crocheting around the bandana, and repeat the same process for the second tie on the opposite side. Join with an invisible join using a yarn needle.
