Pattern Sections
If you are looking for a beginner-level crochet project that’s not too demanding on your side, then flat crochet socks might be just the right pick. Don’t get intimidated by the look of the socks, as you would have to crochet a simple rectangle and then sew the socks as described. If you want to have fancy decor on the socks then you will have to learn how to make a puff stitch but don’t worry, I explain everything in the pattern below and show it in the video tutorial. If you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below and I will get back to you with an answer.
Crochet materials and tools:
<> Crochet hook 3.75 mm
<> I was using DK yarn and crocheted in 2 strands – 100% acrylic.
Crochet puff stitch socks size:
Size: US 5-6 / EU 35-36. (22-23 cm)
Gauge: 14 sts – 4 inches (or 10 cm)
Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
pf st – puff stitch – wrap the yarn over the hook and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over again and draw up a loop (3 loops on your hook), yarn over, insert your hook through the same stitch, yarn over, and then draw up another loop (5 loops on your hook), yarn over, insert your hook through the same stitch, yarn over, and then draw up another loop (7 loops on your hook), yarn over and draw it through all 7 loops. To secure puff stitch with the loop pulled through the puff stitch, make a single chain.
Flat crochet socks pattern:
Leave at least 20-25 cm tail. Chain 33. When you measure your chain, it must be around 19-20 cm length.
Row 1: 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc in each st across. Turn.
Row 2: Ch2, 1 dc in next dc, skip next stitch, 2 pf st in the next dc, skip next stitch, 1 dc in next 21 dc, skip next stitch, 2 pf st in the next dc, skip next stitch, 1 dc in next 2 dc. Turn.
Row 3: Ch2, 1 dc in next dc, skip next stitch, 2 pf st in ch-1 space between 2 puff stitches of previous row, skip next stitch, 1 dc in next 21 dc, skip next stitch, 2 pf st in ch-1 space between 2 puff stitches of previous row, skip next stitch, 1 dc in next 2 dc. Turn.
Repeat Row 3 until you reach desired length foot. I recommend for the foot 23 cm, repeat Row 3 until peace reaches 22-23 cm. Cut the yarn and leave at least 50 cm tail.
Fold the slipper and using the tail that we left at the beginning sew up the heel. After that close the toe side. Watch the video tutorial above for a more detailed assembly.
Weave in any tails left along the inner side of the slipper
