Men’s two-color hat crochet pattern:
Leave a 20-25 cm tail; you will use it later to close the crown.
Color A: Chain 24 (Chain additional stitches in yellow if you want the brim to be entirely grey).
Color B: Pull the new yarn tail through the last loop on the hook, then chain 26.
Chain 50 if you are crocheting in one color.
Measure your chain. For a hat with a folded brim, the chain should measure approximately 31–33 cm. If 50 chains are not enough, add more chains to reach the required length.
Row 1: Color B: Ch 1, starting into the 2nd ch from hook SC in the next 26 chains. Bring grey color in front. Color A: SC in next 14 chains. The length of the last 10 unworked chains must measure 6-7 cm. Sl st in next 5 sts (half the number of unworked stitches). Turn.
Note: You can have more or fewer unworked stitches, as long as the number is divisible by 2. In this case, it is 10.
Color change: When you complete the stitch, prior to the start of a new color, work the stitch until the last 2 loops on your hook. On the last yarn over, pick up a new color, make a yarn over and pull through two last loops. Now you are ready to work with a new color.
Row 2: Color A: ch1, sl st blo in next 5 sts, SC blo in next 14 sts. Bring yellow color in front. Color B: SC blo in next 26 sts. Turn.

Work the last SC of each even row under both loops to make the edge of the hat firmer and less stretchy. This helps the brim keep its shape over time.
Row 3: Color B: ch 1, SC blo in the next 26 sts. Bring grey color in front. Color A: SC blo in next 14 chains. Sl st blo in next 5 sts, sl st in next 5 chains. Turn.
Optionally: To make a smooth transition, work the first of the last 5 sl sts by inserting the hook into the horizontal bar (the ch-1 of the previous row) and into the next stitch at the same time, yarn over, pull through both loops to complete the slip stitch. Then complete the remaining 4 sl sts as usual.
Row 4: Color A: ch1, sl st blo in next 10 sts, SC blo in next 14 sts. Bring yellow color in front. Color B: SC blo in next 26 sts. Turn.
Row 5: Color B: Ch 1, SC blo in the next 26 sts. Bring grey color in front. Color A: SC in next 14 sts. Sl st blo in next 5 sts. (leave the last 5 sts unworked) Turn.
Row 6: Color A: ch1, sl st blo in next 5 sts, SC blo in next 14 sts. Bring yellow color in front. Color B: SC blo in next 26 sts. Turn.
Row 7: Color B: ch 1, SC blo in the next 26 sts. Bring grey color in front. Color A: SC blo in next 14 chains. Sl st blo in next 10 sts. Turn.
Row 8: Color A: ch1, sl st blo in next 10 sts, SC blo in next 14 sts. Bring yellow color in front. Color B: SC blo in next 26 sts. Turn.
Repeat Rows 5-8 until the width of the hat reaches 48 cm.
Finish the hat by working the final Row 3. The working yarn will be at the top (crown), and you are now ready to seam the hat.

Sewing hats edges:
Fold the hat so that the foundation chain is closest to you.
*Insert the hook into the first loop of the foundation chain and then through the back loop of the stitch on the other side. Finish with a slip stitch. Repeat from * until you reach the end. Cut the yarn.
Thread the yarn tail left at the beginning onto a tapestry needle. Insert the needle through the side loops around the hat’s crown, then pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Fasten off and weave in any remaining ends.
